The Atlanta Braves were established in 1871 and have a whole encyclopedia of former names. Starting life in Boston as the Red Stockings other names include the Red Caps, Beaneaters, Doves, Rustlers, Braves and Bees. In 1953 they moved to Milwaukee before finally relocating to Atlanta in 1966. They presently play at the SunTrust Park in the National League East Division and their colors are navy blue, scarlet red and white.
The Boston Braves won their first World Series in 1914 and again as the Milwaukee Braves in 1957. From 1991 the Atlanta Braves entered a very productive period, losing the World Series twice in ‘91 and ‘92 but finally winning in 1995, beating the Indians 4-2. Two more World Series appearances followed soon after in 1996 and 1998, both times the Braves were bested by the New York Yankees. Subsequent years have seen less success in the postseason, losing the Division Series several times.
